Now, when I say that this question of me versus Maxine is impossible to answer accurately, I am not trying to protect myself, my family, my friends, or even my ex-boyfriends. All I can do is point out that I, unlike Maxine, occupy three dimensions rather than two. Also, I have never to my knowledge visited the Stone Age, walked on the ceiling, evolved from a doormat, turned into a caterpillar, or driven my convertible around the moon. Maxine has done all of these things with ease and, of course, great panache.

Perhaps the only way to distinguish between myself and Maxine is to say that Maxine is marvelous. Maxine has no limits. I am merely me.
